Gaines Twp Road Closures

Seymour Rd. resurfacing project begins

GAINES TWP., Mich. – The Genesee County Road Commission will begin its Seymour Rd. resurfacing project (from Reid Rd. to Hill Rd.) on Tuesday, May 5. Weather permitting, the road is expected to reopen to traffic at the end of July. The road will be closed to thru traffic during the project. The posted detour will take drivers from Grand Blanc Rd. to Morrish Rd. to Hill Rd. and vice versa. Motorists should allow additional time to reach their destination. The Genesee County Road Commission will be installing a cross culvert on Ray Rd. between Nichols Rd. and Van Vleet Rd. on Monday, June 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The road will be closed to all traffic.

Opportunities of Interest

  • Township Clerk and one Township Trustee position will be on the ballot this year. This will be to serve out the remainder of the current terms. Both offices are currently being served by appointees. The appointees must stand for election this year if they wish to serve the remainder of the current terms. Anyone interested in running for these offices can get nominating petitions at the township office. Nominating petition for declared parties has passed however for those who are interested in running under no declared party petitions are still being accepted to qualify for the November general election. These are due by July 21st at 4 PM at the township clerks office. This deadline also applies to any Village offices up for election this year as well.
  • Medstar is offering a EMT course starting June 29th “There’s no out of pocket expense to attend, and completing it results in full-time employment with Medstar. It’s a great opportunity for young people to start a career without taking significant debt.
